The Bon Accord United Church was built in 1915 as a community church with ties to the Methodist Church. In 1925, it became affiliated with the United Church of Canada. The Bon Accord United Church is now a three-point charge with Namao United Church and Patricia United Church which form the "Namao Pastoral Charge".
Looking back, we feel we have come a long way. A humble beginning in a pioneer home, to a one-room country school. The original structure is the same except for the addition which was built in the 1970's to give more room and another set of stairs to the basement. The United Church is now a comfortable, well-kept church which has been improved and beautified in loving memory of our pioneers. It is still going strong, varying in attendance through the years.
Good Shepherd Community Fellowship
Good Shepherd Community Fellowship was founded by a group of likeminded individuals from Bon Accord and the surrounding district in February of 1986. In 1988 volunteers and financial commitments were made to allow construction.
In May of 1989 ground was broken and construction of the church began. Good Shepherd is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Assemblies of Canada which is an Evangelical, Pentecostal fellowship of independent churches.
From the very beginning, the church board has been committed to mission outreach into our own community and to the world at large. The church has sponsored orphan children in India for more than 20 years, sends missionary support to missionaries in Northern Canada,
Mozambique, and Indonesia.
The maintenance and ongoing presence of the church is attributed to the giving of key members of the congregation who are committed to the community and the church.

In the winter of 1919 a Women's Guild was organized to build a church. Many fetes, dances, and box socials were held to raise money. Two lots were donated and all labour was provided by volunteers.
A Sunday School was started in 1921, when the church still had only a rough floor. Six members of the congregation offered to loan the money to complete the project. In 1922 the floor was finished and pews were purchased.
Old coal and a wood furnace was used for about 20 years. In order to get the church warm enough for services in the cold winter weather, the fire had to be started on Saturday. Over the years changes have been made to the church building, including renovations and improvements have occurred.
In 1966 the pews were stripped and refinished which made them look like new. A kitchen and meeting room were added but the early church architecture remains the same.

Bon Accord Community Church began Sunday gatherings on the 17th of October 2010. The group hopes to contribute to the mission of God in and around Bon Accord. They do this by gathering together to worship Jesus and encourage each other, and by representing and serving Jesus in their everyday lives.
Bon Accord Community Church gathers at the Jewel Box (4916 52nd Street, Bon Accord) at 10:30 Sunday mornings. We also share a potluck lunch together at noon every week. Guests are not required to contribute to the meal. Just come and enjoy!
