Water, Sewer & Garbage
Utility rates are set by Council through the Waste Bylaw - Bylaw #2009-08; Water Bylaw – Bylaw #2010-01and Wastewater Bylaw – Bylaw 2010-02. Utility bills can be paid at the Town Office during office hours or by mail. Utility bills can also be paid through telephone banking services at various banks as well as the white drop box at the front of the Town Office building. Post dated cheques are accepted. A 2% penalty is levied on unpaid bills or post-dated cheques after the due date. This is a partial listing of fees under the Bylaws. For a complete list, contact the Bon Accord Town Office.
Water
Water Security fee: $200.00
Sales of bulk water: $1.94 per cubic meter (pre paid customers)
$1.96 per cubic meter (Credit customers) + $5.00 /month service charge
Sewer
$1.75 per cubic meter of water used + $10.00 / month service charge.
Waste Collection
Extra Totes: $8.45/ month ‘waste’ tote
$4.45/ month ‘organics’ tote
Direct Landfill Use – User pay based (reported by landfill) – $0.038 / kilogram (billed monthly)
- Our regional landfill is located west of Highway 28 on Highway 642, one-half mile south on Range Road 251. Hours of operation are Mondays 9 to 5 (summer 9 to 9), Tuesdays through Saturday 9 to 5. For more information, call Roseridge Waste Management at 780-939-5678.
- Landfill permits are available at the Town Office.
- Please call Standstone Waste Services Ltd. at 780-967-4450, or the Town Office at 780-921-3550, if you have any questions regarding rules and regulations for garbage pick-up.
Garbage Pick-up is Thursday
Garbage is picked-up from the front street only. Standstone starts on the West end of town and works their way East. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
Bon Accord residents have been very enthusiastic about recycling since the commencement of the Blue Bag recycling program on November 15th, 2007. In 2006 the Town of Bon Accord disposed of 814.665 tonnes of garbage at Roseridge. In 2007, this amount was reduced to 792.67 tonnes, and then further reduced in 2008 to 663.28 tonnes.
Alberta Environment has a strategy for waste reduction in Alberta. The current target is to reduce the amount of waste going to landfills to 500 kg per person by the year 2010. Way to go Bon Accord residents, we have met the provincial target; our disposal rate is 432.38 kg per person! Keep up the good work!
